The endless possibilities created when that Cydia icon first appears on the iOS home screen should never be underestimated, and it’s thanks to the likes of Redsn0w – the popular jailbreak tool released by the iPhone-Dev Team – that users can truly test the resolve of their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch devices.! ' b z' w9 i: f5 m/ K) @The iPhone-Dev Team is inarguably one of, (if not) the most reliable, hardworking, and dedicated groups of them all. Whenever Apple releases an updated version of iOS to developers, (or indeed, the public), it’s usually closely followed by the revelation that it’s jailbreakable. More often than not, the iPhone-Dev Team then steps up to the proverbial plate, releasing a set of instructions on how you can free your device with an updated version of its Redsn0w tool.

Today, that most famous of tools has been updated, but unfortunately for those waiting on some significant jailbreak news, the changes are only minor housekeeping. As per a post on the Dev Team’s blog, version 0.9.10b8b of Redsn0w makes the .zip files more compatible with the native Windows Explorer, which sometimes takes exception to leading slashes in the file names.# M4 G4 l5 D; ~4 W: f

The Mac version of Redsn0w isn’t listed as having received any notable changes, although the version number is now also uniformly updated in line with the Windows iteration, to keep things well aligned. Both download links can be found below, and as usual, if you are already jailbroken, there’s no need to re-jailbreak using the tool, you’re all set the way your device is at the moment. For those of you who are new to this jailbreak can follow our complete step by step how-to instructions posted here.

M) d5 w) W( DWe’d love to have been able to update you guys with something juicier – such as jailbreak news regarding the new iPad, for one – but the situation remains unchanged for the time being. Pod2g has been reporting of an untethered jailbreak of his iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1, and since that was only a couple of days ago, it certainly gives those running on A4 something to shout about.6 n7 Z* [; |& u' Y0 G
