Winamp5於2003年12月發佈，5取意為2+3，指包含了Winamp2，Winamp3的精華。Winamp5通過DirectShow支持播放視頻文件格式，如MPEG，VCD，DVD，RM，NSV。Winamp5還支持CD抓軌轉換為MP3格式，以及直接刻錄CD。
